  • About Parent Network Scotland

    FOUNDED 1999

Parent Network Scotland, founded in 1999, is a charity based in Scotland committed to supporting parents in ways that directly enhance the lives of children.

THE ROLE OF PARENTS AS ROLE MODELS

Parents are often the first and most significant role models in a child's life

—whether positively or negatively-and we understand the profound impact this has on their

    development

SUPPORTING CHILDREN WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED TRAUMA

For children, especially those who have experienced trauma, having strong loving families surrounding them and nurturing role models is essential for overcoming adversity and thriving.

    OUR UPSTREAM APPROACH

We take an 'upstream' approach, focusing on preventing trauma before it occurs, fostering family nurture, and creating safe, loving homes.

    PEER-TO-PEER SUPPORT

Through our peer-to-peer model, we help families not only lift themselves out of poverty but create thriving environments where children's wellbeing can flourish.

We believe that children who grow up in such environments are more likely to achieve their potential, leading to a future where they can succeed and contribute to society.

    THE SCOTTISH PARENT ACADEMY

The Scottish Parent Academy plays a crucial role in this journey, offering parents a first step toward growth and rekindling their aspirations.

This is a space where parents can openly share their goals-for themselves and their families-and walk that journey with us, together.

    CREATIVITY, EDUCATION, AND TRAUMA-RESPONSIVE APPROACH

Using creativity, education, and a trauma-responsive approach, we support families to heal, learn, and thrive.

    BUILD RESILIENCE

Our trauma-responsive approach is key to helping families build resilience, particularly in the face of challenges. It recognises the impact of past experiences and creates an environment of safety, empathy, and empowerment. We integrate this understanding into every aspect of our work, ensuring that families receive the support they need to grow and succeed in a nurturing, responsive way.

    RUN BY PARENTS FOR PARENTS

Parent Network Scotland is run by parents, for parents, with a team that understands firsthand the struggles many families face.

Through intensive training, coaching, and community-building, we create a balanced approach that uses both heart and head to make lasting, meaningful change. By empowering parents, we're not just supporting individual families, but fostering an entire community where every child in ::

Scotland can grow up with the support, care, and opportunities they need to thrive.
